Georgia Donaldson is the new President of FIPA Global
On behalf of our Patron, Sir Kenneth Hall, and the Trustees, the Hon. Oliver Jones, OJ, and Lt. Col. Euken Mills, O.D., the Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs. Georgia Donaldson as President of FIPA Global. A colleague once described Georgia as “one of the most balanced human beings” she knows. At FIPA, we have seen that balance reflected in her emotional intelligence, reliability, and sound judgment—qualities that are essential for leadership in today’s increasingly complex world. Georgia is the Managing Director of Corporate Options and an exceptional leadership coach. She brings both the breadth of experience and the depth of insight required to guide individuals and organizations through challenge, change, and uncertainty. At FIPA Global, Georgia will play a central role in ensuring that our programmes are more widely known and accessible. Many of these are free public education initiatives. For example, the Respect Project is a comprehensive programme available to all schools seeking to reduce or eliminate bullying. Our Hard Questions series creates space for engagement with difficult issues, grounded in the belief that safe or superficial answers are often inadequate in a rapidly changing world. We also have The Safe Space, where we offer beautifully illustrated books designed to encourage safety, awareness, and reflection for both children and adults in addition to Guides. This initiative was developed over more than seven years of research, with the participation of over 200 individuals. It is a growing resource, and we continue to update this page from time to time with additional materials. At the same time, we are preparing to launch Thinking Skills for Adults in June—a fully developed, research-based programme that will be delivered through courses, seminars, and workshops. This programme, researched over several years, responds to a clear and growing need: adults today are required to make decisions under pressure, interpret complex information, manage conflict, and navigate uncertainty, often without formal training in how to think through these challenges with discipline and clarity. This programme is designed to address that gap in a practical and meaningful way. With Georgia’s leadership, we are confident that these initiatives will not only expand in reach, but deepen in impact. Dr. Angela Ramsay, our outgoing President, will move into the position of Founding Chair, FIPA Global.
FIPA GLOBAL (The Farquharson Institute of Public Affairs) was established in 1917 to safeguard trade, industry, and agriculture in Jamaica. Originally envisioned as a model organization for the British Commonwealth, FIPA counted among its honorary members prominent figures from the British House of Lords and House of Commons—see the document in Our History. Over a century later, at the new FIPA, we continue to uphold the founding principles that remain relevant today, while embracing fresh perspectives for the modern era.
