Dr. Rohan Jowallah brings a wealth of experience in education, having taught in the Caribbean, England, and the United States. His teaching background spans across various educational levels, including elementary, middle, and high schools, as well as universities. Throughout his career, Dr. Jowallah has embraced different teaching and learning modalities, gaining valuable expertise in diverse educational settings. Dr. Jowallah's academic qualifications are highly impressive. He holds an Ed.D. in Language and Literacy in Education from the University of Sheffield, an M.Ed. in Special Needs and Inclusion Studies from The Open University and a BSc in Psychology from The Open University. Furthermore, he has a Graduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education from the University of Wolverhampton, a Diploma in Secondary Education from Bethlehem Moravian College, and a certificate in Social Work from The University of the West Indies School of Continuing Studies. As an accomplished researcher, Dr. Jowallah has authored numerous publications, including a book and several book chapters. He actively seeks new opportunities for writing and research, and he has served as a reviewer for multiple international journals. His research interests encompass critical education issues and emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Extended Reality (XR), Learning Spaces, and Inclusion. In recognition of his scholarly work, Dr. Jowallah was awarded the Research Incentive Award at UCF in 2022, acknowledging his contributions to these areas of research. Dr. Jowallah's fascination with technology began several decades ago in Jamaica, and upon his arrival in England in 2001, he further immersed himself in technological advancements. In 2015, while collaborating with a colleague, he delved deeper into the field of technology, exploring the integration of virtual reality with pedagogical frameworks. By 2016, he observed the emergence of advanced computer-based systems, many claiming to be AI but lacking essential AI elements. Over the following years, Dr. Jowallah extensively researched and evaluated various tools. His conviction in the transformative power of AI led him to create a video in 2019 titled "Artificial Intelligence in Education." Today, he continues to produce videos on AI and related technologies that utilize AI. Dr. Jowallah's contributions to the field of AI have been remarkable, earning him invitations to speak at various conferences and events. In 2023, he was invited to share his expertise as a speaker at the Jamaica Teachers’ Association, Trinidad and Tobago Teacher Union, Yaba College in Nigeria, University of Guyana, and the University of Central Florida. He has also developed documentation for creating an AI framework in organizations and has designed a comprehensive course on AI, which attracted over 180 participants. Currently, Dr. Jowallah serves as a Senior Instructional Designer at the University of Central Florida and holds adjunct faculty positions at two other universities. He actively participates in various committees dedicated to exploring technology in education. Additionally, he maintains an active YouTube channel, where he shares his research interests and educational insights with over 2,620 subscribers through more than 220 videos, consistently uploading new content on a weekly basis. With his extensive experience, Dr. Jowallah offers consultancy services, including curriculum development, workshops, and presentations in his areas of expertise.
