Gold, Silver and Bronze Centennial Awards For

Top Scientists 2025

 

FIPA will be offering non-monetary Special Awards in 2025 who has demonstrated innovativeness or some other aspect of critical thinking.  The awards will be in commemoration of our Centennial, which occurred in December 2017 (FIPA was established in 1917).   

FIPA does not offer Awards or Letters of Commendation lightly. The process of selecting awardees takes up to nine months.. 

The categories of awards are the following:

  • The Gold Centennial Award

  • The Silver Centennial Award

  • The Bronze Centennial Award

 

We receive independent confirmation of what the individuals, groups and organizations have done. 

Letters of Commendation for Persons Under the Age of 30

 

In 2024, thirty Letters of Commendation will be given for persons under the age of 30 with outstanding achievements in academics, business, innovations, community work, nursing, medicine or STEM.

A Major Awards Ceremony

The first writing awards ceremony was held in the Ramson Room at the Regional Headquarters of the University of the West Indies. 

Sir Kenneth Hall, the Patron of FIPA, gave the opening speech.

Awardees

Among the awardees were:

  • Dr. Michael Bucknor, Head, Department Literatures in English

  • Professor Maurice Elias, Rutgers University 

  • Dr. Parris Lyew-Ayee, Head of the Mona GeoInformatics Institute 

  • Mrs. Emma Lewis, Environmental Advocate

  • Professor Emeritus Edmund W Gordon of Yale University and Columbia University

  • Professor Emeritus Cecille Harriott, University of Calgary

  • Professor Paulette Ramsay, Head of Department of Modern Languages and Literatures, University of the West Indies

  • Professor Arnoldo Ventura, former UN Chairman for the Science and Technology Commission 

The FIPA/Cecille DePass Research Awards

  • 2019. Carolyne Verret, PhD. Western University, Ontario, Canada. 2019. Topic: Education leadership in urban Haitian schools.

  • 2018. Yvonne Shorter Brown, EdD. University of British Columbia. Topic: Growing up in Jamaica in the 1950s: an ethnographic study.

  • 2018. Mona Dillon PhD. University of Calgary. Topic: Challenges and triumphs of vulnerable male youth in Tobago.
