CENTRE FOR CRITICAL THINKING IN LEADERSHIP
A unique centre that concentrates
on advancing critical thinking
A 2017 study conducted by the Council for Aid to Education (CAE) using the Collegiate Learning Assessment (CLA+) found that only 6% of college seniors demonstrated "proficient" levels in critical thinking, analytical reasoning, problem-solving, and writing skills.

A 2018 report by the Global Talent Index (GTI) revealed that only 55% of employees were perceived by their employers as possessing strong critical thinking skills. This finding underscores a substantial disparity between the critical importance of these skills and the level of competence exhibited by employees in the workplace.

These and several other studies suggest that, while critical thinking is highly prized in the workplace, there is a noticeable gap between the demand for these skills and the actual proficiency employees demonstrate. Many employers find that workers require additional development in this area to effectively tackle the challenges of their roles.
At the Centre for Critical Thinking in Leadership (CCTL), we believe that true leadership begins with the power of thought. Our mission is to cultivate leaders who are not only effective in their roles but are also equipped with the critical thinking skills necessary to inspire, innovate, and make the best decisions. Through a blend of theoretical frameworks and practical application, our training programmes are tailored to meet the evolving demands of leadership in the post AI era. Join us to embark on a journey that transforms the way you lead and think.
CCTL focuses on the business, agriculture, health, education and science & technology sectors.

Critical thinking is a broad field of study that goes beyond just logic and its integration with other perspectives. It includes philosophy, psychology, neuroscience, sociology, education, communication, law (particularly argumentation), the deeper aspects of the scientific method, and the effective use of new technologies. Additionally, it involves understanding other forms of thinking, such as creative, innovative, and instinctual thinking, and can greatly assist in mental health. The challenge, therefore, is to simplify critical thinking for different audiences while ensuring it remains both relevant and applicable.
CCTL has been in development for five years because we wanted to ensure our signature training programs were fully refined before launching. During this time, the founder also created Fit Thinking, a user-friendly method of critical thinking which is currently in the advanced stages of being trademarked.

CCCTL owes its development to the indirect influence of many great minds. Among them is Dr. George Rex Meyer, who was awarded the Order of Australia for his groundbreaking work in curriculum development. Decades ago, he taught the founder of CCTL, placing a strong emphasis on critical thinking in his courses. The Patron, Sir Kenneth Hall, along with the trustees and members of the Board of Advisors, have also been invaluable mentors, selected more for their exceptional thinking abilities than for their many accolades. Additionally, a significant source of inspiration has come from the founder's friends, colleagues, and people of all ethnicities and income levels in six continents whom the founder had had the honor of meeting. In addition, there were invaluable discussions with the crew and some of the fellow passengers on a mini expedition into Antarctica based on the challenges they faced and how they overcame those challenges.
CCTL is an independent body that partners with FIPA. CCTL is also a consortium: the trusted experts who have their own businesses and administer their courses and seminars from their own platforms.
A percentage of the funds earned by CCTL is donated to the FIPA Foundation.
CCTL is the Foundational Centre within FIPA
Critical Thinking created the Idea Hub and the other three Centres
The Centre for Critical Thinking in Leadership (CCTL) serves as FIPA's foundational centre because critical thinking is essential to effective leadership in any domain. It provides the analytical framework and decision-making tools that influence the success of initiatives in the other centres. Whether addressing issues in family dynamics, mental health, or trade, leaders must approach problems with a structured, open-minded, and solution-focused mindset—skills that the CCTL aims to cultivate. CCTL has both an internal and an external function. Internally, it ensures that FIPA's work in the Family, Mental Health, and Trade Centres is approached with clarity, innovation, and critical thinking, ensuring that solutions are practical, sustainable, and adaptable. Externally, CCTL offers programmes, many of which are uniquely designed to address real-world concerns such as conflict resolution, decision-making, and strategic leadership. These programmes equip leaders with the tools to navigate complex challenges effectively and lead with confidence. Critical thinking is a core skill that underpins sound judgement, effective communication, and problem-solving. As the foundational centre, the CCTL ensures that all of FIPA's centres benefit from leadership grounded in critical thinking, helping to foster forward-thinking, adaptable solutions. The Idea Lab acts as a creative hub where ideas related to all four centres are explored, developed, and tested. Its relationship with the CCTL is symbiotic. The CCTL provides the structured framework for evaluating and refining ideas generated in the Idea Lab, ensuring that they are critically assessed before implementation. In essence, CCTL’s internal role drives critical thinking within FIPA's operations, while its external role provides innovative, real-world leadership solutions. Together, this creates a powerful synergy that reinforces the importance of critical thinking across all FIPA’s initiatives.
